ElderLink NZ: Support, Connection & Services for Marlborough Seniors

Marlborough's seniors are valued members of our community, bringing a wealth of experience and contributing in countless ways. Many lead active, independent, and fulfilling lives. At the same time, we recognise that navigating the later years can bring unique challenges for some, especially in today's high cost of living environment.

Recent national studies and reports highlight that the increasing cost of essentials places significant pressure on fixed incomes, while a growing number of pension-aged Kiwis are in rental accommodation rather than freehold homes. For too many over-65s, particularly those renting or without substantial savings, managing day-to-day expenses and secure housing requires careful budgeting (even food rationing in severe cases) and is a major cause of poor mental health and social isolation. Maintaining strong social connections can also become harder due to factors like health, mobility, or changing family circumstances, and studies show that feelings of isolation are a real concern for some seniors.

ElderLink exists to offer a supportive hand and a friendly connection within our Marlborough community. We provide a welcoming point of contact, practical assistance options, and opportunities for social engagement to help seniors navigate these pressures, enhance well-being, and continue to thrive. We believe that by working together, we can ensure all our older residents feel seen, supported, and connected.
